The majority of new and existing structures can be protected against earthquakes by Victor Seismic fluid viscous dampers. This includes both steel and reinforced concrete framed buildings. Frequently a seismic upgrade can be achieved for an existing structure with minimal or no foundation strengthening and with modest structural additions.
Our standard range of fluid viscous dampers will cover most projects. Additionally we have the design and manufacturing capability to meet any requirements you have.
Our recent projects include the 21 story Aurora Centre (formerly Unisys House) on The Terrace in Wellington. This retrofitted building is protected by 37 Victor Seismic fluid viscous dampers. The building performed very well in the 2016 Kaikoura Earthquake with little damage. The building was reoccupied immediately after the event and was also in a position to accept new tenants who had been displaced from other buildings.
At the University of Canterbury 144 Victor Seismic fluid viscous dampers are being supplied to the New Education Building.
